Most of the marketers in today’s competitive world must have read the popular book by the renowned Marketing Consultants and Gurus ‘Al Ries and Jack Trout’. This book though 20 years old is still one of the most read books by Marketing professionals even today. The primary reason being the relevance of those Laws of Marketing even to this day’s business and hence, most of the marketers consider these laws as the fundamental laws of Marketing and apply them actively in their game plans.

Enter Digital Marketing, does anything change? The rise of companies like Google, Facebook, Skype and Whatsapp in the recent years have changed the dynamics of the market quite significantly. We are also seeing a trend of major investments running into billions of dollars going into Internet dependent companies like e-commerce, App Development, Social Media platforms, etc. It is about time to try and draw a line to see if the fundamental laws of marketing still apply. If Yes, then how do we relate them to the new market at hand.

A sincere attempt is made here to relate ‘The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing’ by Al Ries and Jack Trout to today’s market where the ‘Digital Marketing Rules’ plays a major role in Marketing Strategy decisions. Let’s take one law at a time and try relating it to the Digital Marketing arena and see what needs to be done in order to implement them in our Digital Marketing Strategy. This write up has been converted into a blog series and will be shared over a period of twelve weeks, two laws per week. This is just the introduction and we’re hoping that when we walk the Laws, we will get enough feedback, views and discussions so as to arrive at a mature conclusion at the end of the series.

The days chosen for the blog post will be Tuesdays and Thursdays of the week so as to not disturb you during your busy first day of the week and the tiring last day of the week.
